THE FUTILE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS

Isn't the search for happiness a futile effort? I remember always thinking that I would be happy when I got to a certain weight. The irony was that when I got to that weight I was more depressed than ever. By giving up using food as a way of avoiding the truth about my life at the time all the problems came to the surface and my whole life unravelled. I remember being very very thin and very unhappy. Dealing with the dust under the rug, to me, is the most important thing in life. "Clearing out the closets" needs to be done all the time, not just seasonally or once in awhile. It isn't fun and it isn't pretty. It doesn't feel good and it doesn't make us happy, but the ongoing process of healing is the only way I know how to live and live meaningfully.
