Sometimes opportunities come our way unexpectedly and for the sake of keeping things constant we pass them up. Many years ago I had started a new job and another offer came along when I was only a few months into the new job. I was very ambivalent but let the second job offer go and stayed where I was. I'll never know for sure how things would have gone had I taken the other job but when I think about it now, it would have probably been a good career move. I can think of a lot of decisions I made like that one that were costly mistakes. Fear prevents us from having what's better and keeps us stagnant. We don't want to make impulsive or foolish choices but we also don't want to make decisions based on fear.
