I know that I might lose some readers by writing this but I don't care. Wake up America and take a good look in the mirror. The government is not the reason we are in the mess we are in. What has your behavior been for the last 10 years? Have you been financially responsible? Have you paid cash up front for everything? Have you never spent money that you didn't have to spend? I am willing to admit that I have not been perfect in this area. I could have done better. I plan to do better in the future. It's time that we all start learning how to live within our means. This financial crisis was in the making for years and years. It is so funny how people love to scream and yell at just about anyone in order to avoid taking any responsibility for their actions. The first step toward healing is to take a good look at your own financial behaviors and stop looking at "others" and what "they do".
When I was a dancer the teachers always said "don't look at your neighbor and how high their leg can go or how wide their turn-out is. Just work with your own body and its limitations and build from where you are". The same goes for our financial muscle. It's time to start from scratch and build it up again. No one deserves devastation or disaster but unfortunately that's what it takes sometimes to wake us up and force us to change our behaviors.
Like I said, mine is not a popular view, and many will ignore what I'm saying, but we have to look at cause and effect if we want to improve our lives.
