LEARNING TO RECEIVE

Sometimes we stay in situations that are not good for us. We stay with people or in jobs that undervalue us and although the other people involved may have good intentions, they might be so limited in what they can give that we receive little from the relationship or situation. We find ourselves "putting out" much more than we are "getting back".

Our cells were programmed over time to receive a certain amount and everyone is different in this regard. Resentment builds over a lifetime of experiences and we can find that there is unwanted anger and bitterness inside of ourselves. We don't know how to forgive, forget and let go We read books and attend seminars in order to "work on ourselves", but still we find ourselves in these awful situations regardless of our efforts.

There are visualizations that you can do to expand your capacity to receive. As you do these on a daily basis you will begin to attract a much healthier type of person, job, or whatever you are seeking, into your life. That is really what the Law of Attraction is about.

One exercise to try is to hold onto the person that you are trying to let go of. Imagine you are holding on tight (the opposite of what you keep trying to force yourself to do). Feel the connection between the two of you and imagine an inner dialogue going on as you are hugging the person or situation. Hold on for dear life (because that is what we do). That constant pressure to release and move on doesn't help us to overcome what we are working through. Allow yourself to stay. You'll be surprised at the results.
