HOLDING ON IS PART OF LETTING GO

Why do we find it so hard to let go? We take two steps forward and then grasp onto that which is familiar which causes us to take that one step back. Progress is hard to see sometimes. We beat ourselves up for holding onto the very thing that is holding us back from our greater good. It is all the normal course of things. Letting go is a process. Even dropping something or someone for good doesn't mean that we have truly let go. Externally we can declare that something is over or we are giving up a bad habit or relationship, but the process continues even if we are successful in letting it go.A marriage doesn't end when the divorce papers arrive. Addictions aren't gone when they are cleansed from our system. The struggle to let go is an ongoing journey and it's part of life.
